No. Only the traffic judge has the authority to grant continuances for traffic court dates. Traffic court is held on Traffic court is held on Wednesday mornings, at 10:00 a.m. in Room 111 of the City-County Building, 300 West Ash, Salina, KS. If a person cannot reschedule the commitment, which interferes with his or her attendance, it is recommended that the person choose an earlier Wednesday court date to attend. When doing so, a person will need to go to the Clerk’s Office in Room 307 before going to court to advise the clerk to bring the file on his or her case. PLEASE BE AWARE OF THE FACT THAT MISSING A TRAFFIC COURT DATE MAY LEAD TO CERTAIN LEGAL CONSEQUENCES.
If you had valid insurance, valid registration, or a valid driver's license at the time of the ticket, you may mail in, email, or fax a copy and a legible copy of the ticket. You will need to call before your court date to see if we have received it and if that is all we needed. It is your job to check before your court date in order to be released from appearing in court. If you did not have valid insurance, valid registration, or a valid driver's license at the time the ticket was issued, you must appear in court. If a bench warrant was issued for your arrest you need to either appear in Saline County District Court, Court Room 111, on Wednesday mornings at 10 a.m., hire an attorney to appear for you, wait to be arrested, or turn yourself into the Saline County Sheriff.

Yes. Defendants charged with certain traffic infractions may be eligible for diversion. Please see the Traffic Diversion Info & Application form under "Services" on this page. Certain traffic offenses are ineligible for diversion. See the Traffic Diversion Info & Application for a full list. Defendants with a commercial driver's license (CDL) are automatically ineligible for diversion of traffic or driving-related charges.PLEASE NOTE: All requests which do not have all the required information enclosed will be denied. The diversion of a ticket is ultimately at the discretion of the County Attorney. All requests will be notified of either a decision to amend or denial of an amendment, by mail. NO PHONE REQUESTS FOR DIVERSIONS WILL BE CONSIDERED. Due to the high volume of requests, please expect to wait for 3 to 4 weeks for a response.
