Let's Talk About It! Podcast

Let’s Talk About It started as a way to explain public health.

It’s become something much bigger.

This podcast is where real conversations about health, community, and trust actually happen. Not scripted. Not filtered. Just honest dialogue about the things people are already talking about in their daily lives, whether they realize it connects to public health or not.

We built this for the people who aren’t walking through our doors. The ones who don’t always trust systems. The ones who have questions but don’t feel like they have a place to ask them.

And instead of trying to convince, correct, or debate, we chose to listen and engage.

Episodes range from quick, focused conversations to deeper discussions with community members, partners, and leaders across Kansas. We talk about things like:

  • What it actually takes to build trust in a community
  • The real impact of childcare, wages, and access on health
  • Emergency response, preparedness, and who gets left out
  • Mental health, stigma, and the conversations people avoid
  • Rural challenges and the strength that exists within them
  • Leadership, communication, and what’s breaking (and fixing) systems

Some episodes are light. Some are uncomfortable. All of them are real.

We’ve:

  • Brought in voices from across sectors, not just public health
  • Used the podcast to support community engagement and real-world initiatives
  • Earned national recognition, including a National Association of Counties Innovation Award
  • Continued to evolve based on what our community actually needs, not what we think they should hear

And we’re just getting started.

The Bottom Line

Public health isn’t a building. It’s people. It’s conversations. It’s trust.

So, let’s talk about it.
