REACH is for any inmate that may be released back into our community and may need assistance in gaining access to essential services. These services would assist them in a successful return to the community. These may be received either while in custody or once they have been released.
Social Security Card
A social security card is required to gain employment and access community services. We have worked with the local office and have established an efficient way to obtain social security cards for each inmate if they choose assistance.
Birth Certificates
Applications for birth certificates can be given to start the process of obtaining this document however funds must be obtained by the inmate from family or friends as Programs/Re-Entry does not have a funding source to assist with this.
Homeless Shelters/Sober Living/Transition Housing
If an inmate needs housing we can offer suggestions, applications and flyers about various options.
Food Assistance
There are options for food assistance in the area. Re-Entry can provide guidance, locations and other information on assistance in this area.
Mental Health Services
We are working with Central Kansas Mental Health Center(CKMHC) to offer mental health services an inmate may need. If services are started during incarceration, we attempt to have follow-up appointments made upon release. If that is not possible, we are able to give information on the intake process at CKMHC in an attempt to have them follow up.
Medical Services
Informational flyers are in a release packet that can be requested upon release on where to follow up for medical care.
Employment Assistance
Some applications are available to be filled out and mailed, but most applications must be completed online. We do have some employers that are willing to work with us and hire inmates based upon recommendations from programs and reentry staff. If an employer would like to send us an application via email, we would be happy to assist in distributing those to potential employees.
Backpack Assistance
REACH can offer a backpack to those who have little to nothing in their possessions. A backpack has some hygiene items, socks, gloves, hat, and a scarf (crocheted by other inmates) until other items can be obtained from other services in the community.
Other Programs
Library, Crochet, Tai Chi, Multiple Bible Studies, MRT, Untangling Relationships, Anger Management, Seeking Safety, Job Tech, Financial Literacy, Fatherhood, AA, High School Diploma, College Classes, NAMI, Crafts and Book Club.
We try to support all programs by donations of supplies and give back to the community as much as we can!
